The worst social media outage in recent history hits the world most used and most popular social media platform in the world went blank for hours without any reasonable explanation of what has actually happened.
This has happened when Facebook is yet facing allegations of data leaks and mismanagement of research data.

The outage is global and can be confirmed by downdetector Facebook Status. My presumption is that something serious has happened to the social media giant either an attack or a serious server issue.

On their Twitter account, Facebook has already put out few messages apologising to their global users as can be seen below.
Facebook App: “We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing the Facebook app. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience”.
